STUDENT CONDUCT
Students are expected to maintain proper conduct and a professional work attitude at all times. A student who violates the school's rules and regulations will be given a warning on the first offense. If a second offense occurs, the student will be counseled and put on a probation period, where the student will not be allowed to attend for a full class week period. Subsequent violations will subject the student to suspension or dismissal. The school reserves the right to dismiss any student whose personal conduct is deemed unsatisfactory by the Director or Administrator.
TARDINESS
Students are expected to attend classes regularly and to report on time. Any student reporting to school 15 minutes late is required to obtain a school official's permission before going to class. This permission will be granted only to students who show a valid reason for the tardiness.
Students are permitted to make up hours by attending other class sessions, without charge, before their scheduled graduation date.
ATTENDANCE
Good attendance is expected of a student just as an employer expects it of an employee. Every effort should be made to maintain perfect attendance.
Absences due to medical reasons or for circumstances beyond the students control will be excused through the school office. All other absences will be considered unjustified and could result in suspension or possible dismissal of the student. Attendance is reviewed on a monthly basis.
If a student falls below 67% of a perfect attendance during two consecutive months, he/she loses his/her eligibility for Title IV Funds. In this case the student will begin to pay $150.00 a month or his/her course will be terminated. The "Satisfactory Progress" chapter (page 7) contains more information about Satisfactory Progress in attendance.
MAKEUP WORK
All work missed by a student must be made up through arrangement with the school's official who will determine the amount, time, and method of making up the work in conjunction with the instructor.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
A "Leave of Absence" is special permission given to a student which allows him/her to be absent for a determined period. If a student requires a "Leave of Absence" for medical reasons or for circumstances beyond his/her control, the school will permit a one time request or multiple requests of up to 180 calendar days. If the student fails to return to school from the "Leave of Absence", he/she will then be terminated.
The school will provide the student with a specific form which must be completed and signed by the student and the school's official. First day of absence, returning date and reason must be stated on this form.
TEMPORARY INTERRUPTIONS
Students on a Leave of Absence, Justified Absence, or Temporary Withdrawal must be in compliance with the Satisfactory Progress Requirements or the student will be readmitted only on a probationary basis for one month. If during that period the student does not meet the Satisfactory Progress requirements in attendance or academic or both, the student becomes ineligible to receive Title IV Funds.
STUDENT SUSPENSION
Any of the following may cause for a student's suspension or dismissal after review by a School official:
1. Unexcused/excessive absences.
2. Behavioral problems.
3. Insubordination to instructors.
4. Continued refusal to service customers.
5. Lack of participation in classes.
6. Leaving School without permission from instructors or office personnel.
7. Breaking School rules and regulations.
RE-ENTERING SCHOOL POLICY
If a student who has dropped out wishes to re-enroll and continue his/her program of study, the school will allow the student to re-enter without loss of credit, provided the student is in good standing and that no more than five years have elapsed since the student's last day of attendance.
In all cases, the student who wants to re-enter and continue his or her program of study, will have to pay a re-entering fee of $100.00 and sign a new enrollment contract for the new amount of hours. The original enrollment contract signed by the student will be considered expired.
A student who wants to re-enroll in Cosmetology Program and continue his/her program of study after two years of his/her last day of attendance has to take a practical evaluation to determine the amount of hours that will be credited.
The practical evaluation will be performed on the public in the clinic if the amount of hours attended is 450 or more and on manikins if the amount of hours is less than 450.
The evaluation report will be kept in the student folder.
TRANSFERRING STUDENTS
Students transferring from another school in or out of Florida must provide the school with the following:
1. A certification of credit hours or clock hours from the school from which he/she
transferred.
2. A satisfactory reason for transferring.
The school will conduct a practical evaluation on the transferring students and will grant credit for the amount of hours that the student deserves, according to the evaluation. This credit will not exceed the amount of hours appearing in the certification provided by the student.
If a student from this school requests a transfer to another school there is no charge for the transfer or transcript services. Acceptance of transfer credits depends on the transferring school.
SCHOOL'S FINANCIAL AID OFFICER
A School's Financial Aid Officer is available during regular business hours should a student have questions or need assistance in applying for Federal Financial Aid. Most of the school’s office staff is trained to help the students regarding Federal Financial Aid.
ACADEMIC YEAR
The school operates on a 900 hour academic year. For Federal Financial Aid purposes, the academic year is divided in two payments periods (from 1 to 450 hours and from 451 to 900 hours). Pell Grant and SEOG are disbursed in two payments according to the academic year.
RECORDS
Records are permanently maintained by the school and are furnished to the student upon request.

Students must maintain a minimum cumulative rate of 67% in attendance and also achieve an average of 70% on those exams administered in each evaluation period, in order to be considered in satisfactory progress. Although those students who achieve a 70% average on those exams given during the evaluation period are considered to be in satisfactory progress, those exams with a grade lower than 70% must be retaken and passed satisfactorily, in order to comply with graduation requirements. The maximum time frame for program completion is 150% of the program length of each program.
If at the end of the evaluation period, the student did not meet the satisfactory progress requirements in attendance, academic, or both the student is placed in the first probation status. During this first probation status, the student is still eligible to receive Title IV funds.
If at the end of the first probation status the student has not met the satisfactory progress requirements, he/she will be placed in the second probation status. The student is not eligible for Title IV funds while in second probation status and will be a candidate for dismissal.
Two progress reports will be given to the students during the course: one at the midpoint of the academic year and the second one at the end of the academic year.
Incomplete courses, repetitions and non-credit remedial courses generally do not apply and will have no effect on satisfactory progress.
If a student takes a leave of absence or has been suspended while not in satisfactory progress at that time, he/she must re-establish satisfactory progress prior to receiving any subsequent disbursement of Title IV Funds. A leave of absence will extend the contracted graduation date by the number of days in the leave.
Leave of Absences, Withdrawals, and other official interruptions of training are not computed in the maximum time frame.
NOTE: Students meeting minimum requirements for academics and attendance at evaluation will be considered to be making satisfactory progress until the next scheduled evaluation.
